Will I still make traffic on my blog without commenting?

Will I still make traffic on my blog if I keep updating it with new good content (I have no problem on that) everyday even if I don't comment on other blogs or register it on any other search engines except yahoo and google? How long and how many content should I make? I just want to blog and let the whole world think of my opinion. Thats all. I can do comment sometime (like 2 or 3 blogs a week) on some blogs that I like related to my niche but not most of the time. Its just that most experts say that commenting is a must for traffic. Some say it must be done everyday. Its just that I don't want to get burned out and compare my blog with other blogs. My blog is about losing weight.
