What is a pumpkin spice latte SUPPOSE to taste like?

I was really excited to try the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks but when I got it, it tasted like pure espresso. It was very bitter and had no sweetness, spice, or pumpkin. I had other people try it and they said it's definitely not suppose to taste like that. So I called Starbucks and they offered to re-make the drink and give me a coupon for a free drink later. So I got the drink re-made (by the same person) and it tasted a little bit sweeter and I could taste the pumpkin a little more but it was still pretty bitter and I didn't taste any other spices in there. Is this just what they taste like?
